comparison with the secret life of the american teenager
i am a teen (13) and i live in the middle east, Asia. (country, Qatar). I watch the tv series of the secret life of the american teenager and its quite addicting, but i am confused... are american teen lives like the ones in the tv show or not? cuz everything is about sex, i mean teens here in my school from all over the world (us, uk, ger, fr, canada etc) and they arent rlly like these ppl. are american teens really like this? if not, explain.

Well yes and no. These situations do happen in America, but it doesn't always end up at the same school or at the same time. And newsflash to anyone else that goes to an American high school and swears that its not like that, you may not hear about your pregnant classmates, but it happens. I know some people that have had abortions and I'm only 14. And they don't advertise it so everyone will know. They keep it hush hush so their rep won't be ruined. Only their close friends or people like me who just so happen to know everyone's business are the ones that are aware of these situations. I don't even go to a bad high school, but there are some upperclassmen who have decided to keep their kids instead of aborting them. So yes it does happen, but its usually not centered around the same group of people like thy make it in the show. We don't always talk about sex like they do in the show either. Some people think of sex as something cool and to get you popular. That's why the rates of teenage pregnancies are rising in America. The show is a little inaccurate, but it does focus on a flaw in our society that needs to be addressed.
