Everybody Knows
On the Gym, everybody knows you are a better fighter; but you lost on the tournament, what would you feel?
Others are really disappointed if such things happen with them, positively I want to know what would you say?
Said above "Who cares about a tournament." Tons of people in and out of martial arts. It is not a good place to be judgmental over some one who does compete. After all there are no rules in martial arts about not being able to use competitions to hone ones skills and refine techniques and over all use competitions to get better.
To answer the question
This depends on the person. After I lost my second MMA fight I was really down on myself because I am a competitor at heart - it's in my blood. My coach told me I have got some things to work on, take a week off and come back and get better. I did not need coddled; just needed to hear the truth. Some people need to hear that they did a good job and told all of the things they did right maybe even a big hug (idk).
What I would say depends on who I am talking to. My close friend fights simply to get in there and have fun and drink a lot of beer later, he is not worried about a loss. One of the girls I train with needs some attention and told all of the things she did right and how she will learn from this and get better. Some people just need space.
Know the person you are talking to and you can always find what a person needs to hear after a loss or other problems they may be going through
