How long will the effects an orange pill of adderall that is labeled M Amphet Salts 20mg last?
I took an adderall pill and I am just curious as to how long it will last and help me stay focused
There really isn't a universal answer for this question. There are several factors to consider when medication such as Adderall wears off. While taking Adderall you should not take citrus or any kind of acidy foods for the acids in your GI tract have a factor in how this medication breaks down. Also drinking caffiene. How much your eating. Adderall does suppress the appetite, but when you do eat small meals during the day you should notice your medication will work better, drinking plenty of fluids too will depend on the break down of meds. This medication is particularly finiky, it works better when your hydrated, eating well and depending on how much alkaline and acidic foods you eat when you first take it. I took it for several years. I didn't realize how dehydrated I had become while on it.
While the above answer identifies the variables that effect Adderall's duration, the following are some general guidelines based on my reading and experience. Assuming 20 mg. is your correct dosage and that they are not the extended release form of Adderall, then the first 20 mg. dose should reach its peak effectiveness at about 4 hours after taking it. If you take the second dose at that point, it should reach even a higher peak between 1 and 2 hours later. After reaching that peak, it should begin a gradual decline in effectiveness. By approximately 8 to 9 hours after taking the first dose, you should perceive a significant decrease in its effectiveness to the point where it no longer can satisfactorily combat your symptoms.
