Epiphone Guitar for a beginner (80s Heavy Metal Sound)?
I've been working for years that I never get the chance to do the one thing that I always wanted to do that is to play the guitar. Recently I made a career change, I now got plenty of time for myself and I want nothing more than to devote my time and life to playing the guitar, always been my life long dream. So for a starter (noob lol) just wanna know what should I get, in terms of guitars, amps, pick ups, videos and lessons. Need a guide here. I'm more on the practical side of things, not theory, example I find it easier when people show me how to do it instead of reading it from books etc. I cant afford private lessons for now cuz I'm saving to get a really good guitar. Advice from guitarists would be much appreciated. Thanks. I like Epiphone cuz they have good range for a good price. I listens to heavy metal music and rock like Judas Priest, Guns & Roses, mostly 80s hard rock, coz its the music that I listens to growing up.
Personally, I'm a Fender Strat guy, but the Epiphones are also great guitars...just a little heavy for my tastes.
You should be able to get a kit with a lower-end Epiphone or Fender guitar, amp, cord, gig bag and "how to" DVD for under $200; under $500 if you go big and get a little better guitar.
You can save some money buying a gently used starter kit off of someone else who's ready to trade up to a fancier axe in the $500+ range.
