Where can I find information about "special" library jobs, like in museums or with rare books?

Curators are frequently subject specialists - so a history museum curator most likely has a PhD in history, curator of an aviation museum is often a retired Air Force colonel or above. Becoming a registrar is the easiest, but it's also pretty boring.
Each of these professionals might hire assistants who are unskilled - usually part-time workers, full-time students. Most museums that pay that level of employee rather than rely on volunteers, have their own newsletter and will post ads there regulary as well as put posts in the college website or cards in the student employment office.
To get one of these jobs, it's advisable to talk about it with your history profs and see if there's someone on the board of trustees or a curitorial board in the museum that interests you.
