How can I send books to prisoner at San Quentin Prison?
According to the prison regulations, I can send 2 paperback books..but they must be shipped directly from the store such as Borders or Walden...I have tried both via there websites and in store..they will not ship to Quentin because to many shipments have been refused. I don't know what to do next. I have never had to deal with deal with prisons before...it is breaking my heart, I just want my son to have something to read.
Awww, Baby, believe me, I know EXACTLY how sad, angry, frustrated and helpless you're feeling.
I use both Borders and Barnes& Noble,I have had no troubles at all going to the actual store and arranging shipment in person. Another friend uses Amazon and has only had one book refused (an art book the staff felt was too erotic)
If you are actually in the city (San Francisco) the bookstore at Opera Plaza, A Clean, Well Lighted Place For Books, will gladly arrange shipment.

And if you choose to contact the prison to complain, Lt. Cramer is the man you need to either call or write, he's actually a great guy and very good about answering letters and returning calls.... he's currently stuck doing the work of three men, but he truly tries and really cares.
