Smells Like
how to get smells out of a linen closet?
we moved into our apartment about a month ago and the linen closet stinks! I say it's smells like old lady and my boyfriend says it smells like cat urine, like the last tennants had the litter box there. either way we don't want to put clean towels and sheets in there. fabreeze works it you spray it every 5 minutes. i've tried using vinager and baking soda mixed in water and washed the whole thing down but that didn't work either. I left a box a of baking soda in there with the door closed but it's not obsorbing the smell. I have 3 cats and bleaching it doesn't appeal to me. is there anything else I can do?
take everything out of there(shelves, wallpaper, carpet and wash the walls down to get the dust bunnies out and off the walls and ceiling and then paint with an oil based paint. Alkyd primer -let that fully dry(overnight) and the alkyd paint on top and let that dry the same length of time. Also same procedure to be followed on the shelves and on the inside of the closet door.
Now the carpet that came out of there is tossed...so is the underlay. And probably you could have put a layer of paint on the floor (against possible kitty pee)
Now it is not your problem area.
