Help, No sound coming from any speakers, 97 VW Jetta?
I have a 97 VW Jetta which had a pioneer cd player installed in it. The sound started sounding terrible on it, and then after turning the volume up, it began to get "crackly", followed by no sound at all from any of the speakers. I figured it would be improbable for all 8 speakers to go at once, so I assumed it was the cd player itself. I purchased another Pioneer stereo to replace the assumed broken one, and installed it, using orig. wiring harness adapter. No sound from this one either. I removed the stereo and tried it to a home stereo speaker, and there was sound coming from it, which means it is not the stereo, but rather the speakers, or the wiring. With the orig. stereo in the vehicle, I tried a test light on the speakers, to see if there was any power going to the speakers, and there was none. Is there anything in a 97 VW Jetta that would cause this situation, or did I blow all of the speakers ?"
Sounds more like you lost your grounding somewhere some speakers have their framework grounded could be as simple as a wire knocked loose on a bumpy road
