Using Audacity to record from my sound card?
Okay, so I have Audacity. I'm trying to record sound that is playing through my sound card. I've read where lots of places say that Audacity can do this. However...my computer isn't recording that. It's not my physical computer system...I'm very good with most computer stuff and I have a very good system.
But I'm getting a bit annoyed with this. When I open Windows volume control, I have Master Volume, Wave, SW Synth, Line In and CD Player options available. I'm basically having trouble getting Audacity to understand which of these is the proper place to record from, as it seems that I have tried all of them and it's like Audacity doesn't seem to 'hear' anything; even if it's playing fine through my sound card and speakers.
Which area should audacity be recording from, to record from the sound card? I know it's not CD player, duh. Line In is automatically muted by windows...and that's the mic, right? Not sure about SW Snyth or Wave. The only thing muted is Line In, though.
you have to select line in and unmute it. do it on your recording menu and playback. then you have to go in the options menu in audacity and tell it to record from your line in.
i never used audacity but it should work the same. if line in doesnt work try the same with the mic. it works the same in any recording software.
you may have to get an asio driver for it to work with audacity.
