Why do some new DVDs have an extra cover sleeve?
I bought a movie the other day and the plastic DVD case was covered with a cardboard sleeve that has the exact same artwork as the normal plastic cover. Why do some companies put these extra covers on new DVDs because it doesn't seem like they have a real purpose? I want to throw the covers away because they make my collection look a little off, but before I do I'd like to know if they serve a purpose.
It's mostly so that if you need a proof-of-purchase, you can cut it out of that instead of the other one.
