Masters Voice
Is a little strain in your singing voice good?
I know all well trained singers say do not strain, but I don't understand why just the tiny bit of strain won't help you develop a larger singing voice.
The way I look at it is if you don't try to go beyond your original range you'll never be able to master it.
Is some strain good in your voice?
If you're straining, it means you're using incorrect technique that can damage your voice and actually decrease your range if you make it a habit. It's normal to reach a straining point when measuring your range, but that's your signal of your current limitations. There are ways to extend your range and smooth out the higher notes without forcing your voice beyond comfort.
