Can you work in corrections if your criminal record is sealed?
I am going to be attending school to get an Associates degree in Criminal justice. I have a misdemeanor conviction on my record but, i can have it sealed next year and then two years after that i can have it expunged. I would like to be come a parole/probation officer once i am done with schooling. My conviction is not drug or a violent offense. Please help, i don't want to waste my money on this education if i can't get a job after school. Thanks in advance!
In some states a misdemeanor is OK. But a felony is a automatic disqualification. regardless if you get it expunged you will still have to disclose it to the board & explain what happened because they do an fbi fingerprint check & it will come up. Once expunged It does not come up for non fingerprint background checks. Like walmart, etc. but with a misdemeanor only you should be fine. Good Luck!
